Bisp To Be Expanded Further

   Benazir Income Support Programme to be expanded further 2013

 

ARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday said Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), which has been widely endorsed and supported internationally, will be expanded further and its 2nd phase will be completed during next five years, if PPP returns to power.

Under the second phase of BISP, more local and international institutions including banks will be taken on board as the partners and scope of this programme will be widened with introducing more income support schemes for the social and economic uplift of the commonman, he said.

The president was addressing a gathering of thousands of beneficiaries of Waseela-e-Haq and Waseela-e-Rozgar initiatives of BISP, here at the Bilawal House.

President for expanding BISP while launching more initiatives; Says BISP gained acceptability and recognition not only at national level but also at the international forums due to its objectivity, fairness, outreach and effectiveness.

Islamabad, 3 January 2013: In its efforts to further strengthen its accountability mechanisms and adopt best practices of procurement, Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has signed an MoU with Transparency International Pakistan. According to the agreement Transparency International will provide oversight and expertise for BISP’s procurement processes to ensure integration of international standards and compliance with rules of Government of Pakistan. Transparency International will also ensure Redressal of grievances and complaints regarding BISP procurement.

The MoU was signed by Mr. Sohail Muzaffar, Chairman, Transparency International Pakistan and Mr.
